A brief about organization
Kanchan Nepal promotes rainwater harvesting and in association with International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA), Geneva, has successfully completed the Blue Schools Program – rainwater harvesting project in four schools of Kaski district in the year 2013-2014. KN has constructed 34 rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems in Tobang of Chitwan district, partnering with Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) and Nepal Benefit Aaslmeer (NBA), Netherlands in 2018-2019. Recently, a new project, RAIN COMMUNITIES Resilience and Integrated Natural Resources Management for Communities in Mountains of Nepal has been undertaken by KN in collaboration with IRHA with the support of Puplinge Municipality, Repulic and Canton of Geneva and 1% for Development Fund (2019-2021). This project aims to improve the health, living condition and resilience of the rural communities as well as restore the ecosystem.
Specifically, it focuses on improving the water availability and the nutrition of project’s target communities by strengthening their productive capacities and capacities to manage natural resources. Construction of 30 rainwater harvesting system has been started in the project areas, 10 RWH systems in Thulakot Rain Community (Ward No. 28 of Pokhara Metropolitan) and 11 RWH systems in Begnas Rain Community (Ward No. 31 of Pokhara Metropoitan) have been completed. KN is also implementing a Kalika Blue School Project in collaboration with IRHA in Kaskikot of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
